  4. This is an index to the journal formats that are supplied with REFLIST.
  5.  
  6. Some journals use the same formats as others.  To find a format, define 
  7. it in terms of the order of items as below.  Then use your word 
  8. processor to search this file for a format that has the same order.  You 
  9. will probably need to do this twice, once for journals and again for 
  10. chapters.  After you have found a similar format, look in the REFLIST 
  11. manual to see if the punctuation is similar.

  13. If you can not find a format that is exactly the same as the one you 
  14. need you will have to take the one that is closest and make your own 
  15. entry in the file REFLIST.DEF.  You can mix the journal line from one 
  16. format with the chapter and book lines from another format.  Then modify 
  17. your new entry for alphabetization and use of punctuation.  Read the 
  18. last section of the manual for further instructions on making new 
  19. formats.
